Open Question: gay people who owns their own home I need help?

I am gay and always thinking about my future. I plan on owning my own home someday in Seattle, WA. I plan to pay on my own and not share the cost with my partner because it will complicate ownership when we split. I have very luxurious taste and I can afford a 1 bedroom at a really nice condo unit however people are discouraging me to buy it and tell me to go for a 2 bedroom. I can probably afford the cheapest 2 bedroom condo on my own but I will be paying extra maintainance for extra space I don't need. Also property taxes are very high in Seattle so owning a more expensive condo is money down the drain. Thing is I don't plan to live in that condo forever. I plan to move to Portland, Oregon when I retire. People suggest to rent the other bedroom but I do not want that because I want my privacy another thing I can do is lie to my partner that I am only renting the place and make him pay half of the expenses but I really don't want to do that.
